What I've been up to lately...

After swimming in seas of laptoplessness and internetlessness for weeks, I finally have a working laptop again and some internet access. Yay !
Now to get back to blogging, is a totally different thing.
But here we are giving it a try.
I feel a bit guilty for not being able to maintain my blog and not being able to keep in contact with all the bloggy friends that I've made. So I apologise for all of that...

So what have I been up to in the past weeks ?

Apart from following college classes, reading books for college, doing work experience and doing homework and assignments, I started a new hobby and went back to an old one.

Being in college can be stressful sometimes so I am certainly happy and pleased that I found these hobbies, that give me the opportunity to relax a little bit.
In college I joined the group 'Knit and natter' which is held during lunch break once a week. I haven't knitted yet but since I was taught crochet as a child I started with that, just trying to get better at it. My ultimate goal would be to be able to make cute animal hats but so far I haven't attempted one yet. I found it an amazing experience to start with crochet. It is such a relaxing activity.
One of my favourite memories is. when I was watching a crochet tutorial on youtube the other day and my two your old had grabbed a ball of yarn and my crochet needle and stood in front of the laptop, pretending to do crochet. So cute !
I'm making a scarf now with some wonderful yarn from Aldi called 'baby yarn' which has a lot of different colours. I stopped it for now, since the children messed up the yarn and I had to cut it .And now it is going to look different unless I find a similar thread to continue, so that's why it is on hold at the moment. I also attempted to make an owl.

At the moment we are doing a project : making quilts in the shape of a christmas tree.
We are sewing them by hand. This is the first time that I made something like this so it didn't come out perfectly but I'm still happy and proud of it. When it is totally finished I will do a seperate post on it.
I enjoyed sewing the little squares together and it really has improved my hand sewing skills.

This year I've been reading a bit about homemaking and proverbs 31 and I wanted to start mending clothes by hand and so this little project has given me some confidence in that.
I mended a pair of trousers today and was really satisfied with the result.

I'm looking forward to learning how to sew with a sewing machine soon.

Apart from starting to be a bit more creative, I've also started reading again.
At the moment I'm reading a book by Joyce Meyer called 'A leader in the making'

It talks about how God looks at our heart attitude and that this needs to be right, before God can use us in a ministry. I'm really blessed by this book. It is so inspiring and has really helped me to change the way I reacted in certain situations. In between, I've read a few other books.
I just finished reading the best seller 'About a girl.' by Lindsey Kelk.

It is a bit of a romantic book about an ordinary girl. I also read it to learn from the writing since as you might know I'm trying to finish writing a book and then get it published one day. I really like the way it is written and that it is unpredictable. She even gave it an open end.  So you have to read the next book to know what is going to happen next. It's the kind of book that is like an escape, especially since the setting is Hawaii. Even though the main character makes choices I wouldn't make myself, she is so very likable that she almost becomes a friend.

Well, that's what I've kind up been upto lately.  I hope to be writing in here more often again.

If you're new here, welcome ! And I hope that you keep coming back to read more.

What have you been doing lately ? Did you start any new hobbies ? I'd love to hear from you.

Blessings and love,

Mummy, I need your 'pookie'

It’s World Breastfeeding Week from August 1st to August 7th 2013 and this year’s theme is Breastfeeding Support: Close to Mothers. You can read more about it on http://worldbreastfeedingweek.org . The focus is on community support, particularly in the form of peer-to-peer support. To show support for World Breastfeeding Week, the Irish Parenting Bloggers group is holding a blog march about varied breastfeeding experiences, including experiences with breastfeeding support in Ireland. This inspired me to write a post about breastfeeding as well. My breast feeding journey When I was pregnant with my first child, I decided that it would be a great idea to combine breast- and bottle feeding. But in the hospital they convinced me how healthy and important it was to breastfeed exclusively and then I decided to go that road. I got a breast pump to express milk so my baby could get a bottle with breast milk when I was out and about or for the scarce times that I would leave her...

Nevaehs Summer Bucket list

Unfortunately, it seems that this year the Autumn weather has started earlier than last year.  And so I finally wanted to write a blog post to share Nevaehs Summer Bucket list with you. This Summer, we mostly stayed in the Netherlands. We only went to Germany to visit Moviepark Germany for two days. At the beginning of the break, the girls entertained themselves by playing games and watching youtube video’s on their tablets and laptop. This bothered me a bit, so one evening I called them all together to sit down and told them to make a bucketlist for the Summer. The first one to finish was allowed to have the last bit of ice cream. Nevaeh can already write a little bit but I told her that she could draw instead. So she made a bucketlist with 10 items on it. The actual bucket list got lost somewhere but we memorized what was on it and I’m glad to say that she has been able to do all the items on it. So here is Nevaehs Summer Bucket List. 1 Go to the playground ...

Fashion Friday Kids; Tutu's and animal print

My littlest of little girls is a little fashionista. She knows what she wants and sometimes when I pick something out for her to wear, she walks to the closet, opens the door and then stands in front of it to choose another outfit for the day. She loves skirts and dresses. As mentioned in another post she often doesn’t want to wear anything else and calls most skirts and dresses ‘ballerina’. Her favourite skirts are the tutu’s. When I had to choose an outfit for her 2 nd birthday in February, I looked online on the website of H&M and found a cute dress with animal print. I decided to get it in the shop and make up an outfit by adding a pink tutu to it. I loved it and she loved it as well. The birthday outfit In the new class room for 2-3 year olds in church With big sisters in the church lounge Playing with new toys Because I love animal prints and she loved the tutu so much I couldn’t resist an outfit I found on Zulily. The biggest size that the...
