Returning to work

Then, finally a dry day again. Praise God! These last weeks/days have certainly been a challenge and the weather has had a huge part in it. No, luckily no floods and all. But it hasn’t been much joy to walk in the rain (and strong winds) on several occasions. I haven’t got a hood on my coat nor a hat or something like that so my hair got more ruined every time. But my kids were dry, thanks to a double buggy that I purchased from someone from the website Magicmum Yay ! I still feel totally blessed for having the possibility to spend more time with my kids, in spite of the fact that life got so much busier and all. I actually really embraced my new role. But I really went from thinking, ‘I’m happy to be a SAHM ‘ to I thinking ‘I’m ready now to go back to work’. lol But this has nothing to do with the kids. At least, it has a little bit, but in a different way than you would think. I want to be able to earn money again so I can buy things for them, at least to be able to spend more of the

School break and selling Avon

Sunday 24 october 2009 We went to church today. Hubby doesn’t feel so well, but went to the front for prayer. I didn’t even notice it because I was on stage singing a worship song with the choir, while people were being prayed for and I didn’t look at the people who came to the front but was focusing on God. He’s sleeping now. I’m trusting the Lord that he’ll feel better by tomorrow, because he has to go to work. He could’ve taken the day off since it’s a bank holiday, but he decided to work because they’ll pay him 200 percent. Anyway, I’m sure he’ll be fine. Dd1 is off for the whole week and I felt so relieved and as if I’m having a break myself. It’s not easy waking up early, getting her ready and bringing her to school and collecting her again and in the meantime taking care of the baby. I’m sure it will get easier eventually and I’m really grateful that I can do these things, but I’m happy that I will be able to sleep in this week and relax a bit. But then I remembered that I have

The tables have turned

So investing in a new hair cut and a new suit has paid of. lol. Hubby's got himself a job. Hallelujah ! Praise God ! I'm so happy ,delighted and grateful to God who does everything on the right time. This Saturday it's already time for my last maternity benefit payment but I've taken additional leave in faith, trusting the Lord that He would provide. And He has. Hubby has started his new (temporary) job this week and will get paid on a weekly basis,so by the end of next week he'll probably have his first payment.Isn't God amazing ? What this means, is that my life has become a little bit busier. I have to get dd1 ready every day and bring her to school and collect her from school every day by foot.(in the rain !)I have to do the grocery shopping by foot, other shoppings by bus, do the house hold and cook everyday. And next to that take care of both kids. But this is what I've wanted for so long, so it's all good. Glory to God ! I wanted so much to stay h

Child Benefit

I got a request from the Child Benefit Section for information about my employer. So last week I had to go to my work to make them fill in the form, even though I wasn't feeling so well. I heard something on tv about the new budget for Ireland. Apparently they want to cut child benefit by 20 %. Wow ! There's a lot of discussion about the need of child benefit.I think that there might be people that don't need it and don't even claim it but in these times of recession there are more people who really need it. Even if both parents would work, it helps with the costs for child care. And apart from that and buying necessities for the children and maybe paying their ballet lessons and so on, some people might even need it to help pay the rent, the gas bill etc.Because isn't it true that children need a roof above their heads and need to have those basic needs fulfilled as well ? My preference would be to use child benefit to get things for the children. Unfortunately, si

Sick,but still mommy duties

I have the flu. Today it was hubby’s turn to get dd1 ready and bring her to school, which means sleeping in for me. And since I was really feeling not well, this was very welcome. Somehow hubby had trouble with dd1, so I ended up getting her ready again. She didn’t want to go at first, which made me wonder if she was feeling sick as well. First she said that she was sick but later after talking to her and asking her if she really didn’t want to go, she decided that she would go after all. So despite not feeling well and quite wobbly, I got her ready as fast as I could and hubby drove her to school. I also asked him to get me some medicine. I stayed in bed for the most of the morning. Hubby brought me paracetamol with a cup of water and I got breakfast and tea in bed. Wow ! But later I went down to do some stuff on the pc like check the balance of my bank account. Hubby got a phone call from a job agency about a vacancy. They wanted to meet him today and hubby wanted to get a hair cut,

Welcome to my blog

Welcome to my blog. I’m a mother of two who is currently on maternity leave. God has blessed us with a first daughter almost 5 years ago and again with a second gorgeous little baby girl almost 4 months ago. I was born in the Netherlands but my parents are originally from Suriname, which is in South- America. (This used to be a Dutch colony and their main language is still Dutch) Two and a half years ago I moved to Ireland together with my husband and daughter. This blog will be about motherhood, the joys and challenges that it brings to my life. It's about being a mum and woman. I hope that you will enjoy reading my blog. (Leave a comment if you like.)
